World Tourism Day is celebrated every year on 27 September. In Uganda, the Ministry marks the occasion with cultural performances, tourism exhibitions, and a public dialogue on the state of the sector — celebrating tourism's role in economic development and cultural exchange. The official World Tourism Day 2026 celebrations span the entire month of September, hosted in Mbale City and the Elgon region under the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism".

The tourism fraternity will participate in sports (football, cycling), a cultural and culinary festival, an exhibition and a medical camp.

The main event of the World Tourism Day will be held at Mbale City.

The tourism fraternity will hold the Annual Programme Review Conference.
