‎This is the 6th mountain gorilla census, with the first one conducted in 1997. The census is normally conducted every five years; the last one was in 2018 and recorded 459 mountain gorillas. The 2023 census was rescheduled to 2025 due to COVID-19.
The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) had the honor of hosting His Majesty, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV, the esteemed King of the Tooro Kingdom, at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Uganda’s premier tourist destinations. This visit is part of His Majesty’s 25-year development plan, which aims to promote Uganda’s tourism potential by highlighting key experiences, including the world-famous gorilla trekking.
