Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda | April 26, 2025 — The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) had the honor of hosting His Majesty, Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru IV, the esteemed King of the Tooro Kingdom, at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of Uganda’s premier tourist destinations. This visit is part of His Majesty’s 25-year development plan, which aims to promote Uganda’s tourism potential by highlighting key experiences, including the world-famous gorilla trekking.

Accompanied by family members, UWA Executive Director Dr. James Musinguzi, UWA Tourism Development Director Mr. Stephen Masaba, representatives from the Tooro Kingdom, and Mr. Ron Kawamara, a Board Member of the Uganda Tourism Board, the King embarked on an exciting trek from the Nyamishamba outpost. During this trek, His Majesty had the rare opportunity to encounter the Binyindo family, a habituated group of endangered mountain gorillas.

Visibly delighted by the experience, King Oyo described the encounter as "One of the Greatest Experiences" and praised UWA’s dedicated conservation efforts, which have enabled Uganda’s mountain gorilla population to thrive and double over the years. Uganda proudly hosts over 50% of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.

As is customary following a successful trek, UWA Executive Director Dr. James Musinguzi presented the King with a certificate of gorilla tracking, acknowledging his accomplishment. The King also received a silverback portrait from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
