Kampala, Uganda – July 07, 2025 — The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) today joined other public institutions and agencies at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds to mark the African Public Service Day 2025 under the continental theme: “Empowering Marginalised Communities Through Better Governance.”
African Public Service Day is commemorated annually across the continent to recognize and appreciate the critical role played by public servants in driving national development, advancing good governance, and ensuring equitable service delivery. The day also serves as an important platform for public institutions to showcase their work, engage with citizens, and reflect on ways to improve public sector performance.
The Ministry, in line with this year’s theme, reaffirmed its commitment to inclusive tourism development and community empowerment through accountable and responsive governance structures. In attendance were key agencies under the Ministry’s docket, including the Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Authority, and the Department of Museums and Monuments, all of which participated in exhibitions highlighting how their work contributes to national transformation and the upliftment of marginalized communities.

The Ministry’s efforts to boost domestic tourism, preserve heritage, and conserve wildlife are central to its strategy of making tourism more inclusive, sustainable, and beneficial to all Ugandans. By focusing on better governance frameworks, MTWA continues to implement policies and initiatives that open up opportunities for underserved populations, especially those in rural and conservation-adjacent areas.
“We are proud to stand with other government agencies in recognizing the importance of public service and its power to transform lives,” noted Hon. Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, State Minister for Tourism. “Our sector thrives when we place communities at the heart of tourism and heritage conservation.”
As Uganda charts its path toward inclusive growth and Vision 2040, platforms like African Public Service Day remain essential in reaffirming government institutions’ roles in addressing inequality and expanding access to services for all citizens.

The event was graced by various stakeholders including the Uganda Media Centre, the Ministry of Education and Sports, Office of the Prime Minister, and the general public, who engaged with the MTWA team and explored exhibits showcasing Uganda’s rich cultural and tourism potential.
