Nakapiripirit, Karamoja Sub-region | 01st May 2025 – The Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities is proud to announce that its Permanent Secretary, Ms. Doreen S. Katusiime, has been awarded the ‘’Distinguished Order of the Nile Medal’’ by His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during the 2025 Labour Day Celebrations held in Nakapiripirit District, Karamoja Sub-region.

This prestigious recognition was conferred upon Ms. Katusiime in honour of her exemplary and outstanding service to the Government of Uganda, particularly her deep commitment to promoting Uganda internationally through innovative and strategic initiatives that cut across the artistic, scientific, and cultural realms. Additionally, she was the sole awardee in her category, which serves as evidence of her contributions and far-reaching impact.

Her work aligns with and amplifies the goals of Uganda’s National Development Plan IV (NDPIV), especially in leveraging tourism and cultural heritage as tools for socio-economic transformation. This year’s Labour Day theme, “Consolidating the Gains of the Parish Development Model for Increased Productivity and Job Creation,” resonates deeply with the Ministry’s mandate to create sustainable jobs and drive inclusive growth through tourism development.

The Ministry congratulates Ms. Doreen S. Katusiime on this remarkable achievement and reaffirms its commitment to encouraging innovation, excellence and service delivery in advancing Uganda’s tourism, wildlife, and cultural sectors.
