ENTEBBE, UGANDA – 06th May 2025 – The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has unveiled a set of visually striking gorilla sculptures at the arrivals terminal of Entebbe International Airport, providing travelers with a captivating first impression of the Pearl of Africa.
This creative installation marks a significant step in UTB’s ongoing branding efforts to position Uganda as a premier tourism destination in Africa and beyond.
Strategically located to greet both local and international visitors, the gorilla sculptures serve as a powerful visual symbol of Uganda’s unique natural heritage, home to nearly 54% of the world's remaining mountain gorillas. The installation is designed to evoke curiosity, admiration, and a desire to explore Uganda’s protected areas especially in the most popular mountain gorilla trekking destinations of Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga Gorilla National Parks.
These sculptures are more than mere art — they convey a welcoming message: “Welcome to Uganda – the home of the mountain gorilla. They are also intended to help every visitor feel immediately connected to the country's rich biodiversity, inspiring them to discover world-class gorilla trekking experiences.
The gorilla sculptures are part of UTB’s branding campaign, which aims to increase the visibility of Uganda’s tourism offerings by creatively incorporating iconic symbols of its wildlife into public spaces. Through highlighting the country’s flagship tourism product, the gorilla trekking experience, the initiative underlines Uganda’s commitment to sustainable tourism and conservation.
The sculptures are expected to spark conversations and social media engagement among travelers, further enhancing Uganda’s profile as a must-visit destination. They align with UTB’s goal of creating memorable experiences that begin as soon as a visitor arrives.
Uganda is not just a destination — it is a story waiting to be discovered, and that story begins right at the airport.
